Cold shooting sinks UTA as win streak snapped

UT Arlington’s five-game winning streak came to an end at the hands of Troy on Monday as the Trojans prevailed 70-63 at Trojan Arena.

The Lady Mavericks (8-4) dropped to 2-1 in Sun Belt Conference play and lost for the first time since Dec. 4.

UTA shot just 33 percent and was unable to answer Troy’s 16-0 run in the first half that put the Trojans up for good.

“We have to do a better job to execute the game plan,” UTA coach Krista Gerlich said, according to utamavs.com.

Junior LaShanda Green was a bright spot for UTA offensively. Green scored a career-high 19 points. Senior Tahlia Pope had 10 points, and freshman Rebekah Van Dijk led UTA with 10 boards.
