Which Texas Longhorns, A&M Aggies were named football preseason All-Americans?

The Associated Press released its preseason All-American team, and the Texas Longhorns and Penn State Nittany Lions led the way with three players each selected to the first team.

The Longhorns all came from the defensive side of the football — edge rusher Colin Simmons, linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. and defensive back Michael Taaffe.

Simmons was a freshman All-American and made the SEC all-freshman team in 2024 after finishing the season with 48 tackles and nine sacks. Hill Jr., entering his third year, had 113 tackles, eight sacks and an interception last season on his way to first-team all-SEC and second-team All-American honors.

Taafe, headed into his fifth year, collected 78 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions last season to earn second-team All-American honors.

The Longhorns enter the season ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press and coaches polls.

Texas A&M, ranked No. 19 in the preseason AP poll, landed sixth-year guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams on the preseason first team and third-year linebacker Taurean York on the second team.
