Texas Longhorns make history at No. 1 in college football Coaches Poll
Ahead of a highly anticipated season where they are already national title favorites with a top Heisman contender in Arch Manning, the Texas Longhorns made history with their place at No. 1 in the US LBM Coaches Poll Top 25 for Aug. 4.
This is the first time the Longhorns have opened atop the poll in school history. Did any other Texas schools make the list?

The Longhorns were far from alone, with SMU (No. 16), Texas A&M (No. 21) and Texas Tech (No. 24) all making the top 25. While TCU didn’t make the list, the Horned Frogs did make it into the “others receiving votes” category along with Baylor.
Texas will start its season with a marquee matchup against the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes (No. 2) in a game that will set the early tone for the college football season.
