Mack Brown says Arch Manning reminds him of a former Texas Longhorns legend

The college football season is quickly approaching, and expectations couldn’t be higher for the Texas Longhorns.

The team is expected to be a top contender for a national title, and many expect quarterback Arch Manning to be a Heisman contender.

Former Texas Longhorns coach Mack Brown compared Arch Manning’s mindset to Vince Young, a quarterback he won a national title with in 2006, recently on the “Stampede Podcast.”

I was so impressed with him at media day. Steve Spurrier said if he’d been that good, he would have started over in Quinn and they asked him about it, and he said, ‘Oh, Coach Spurer is a great coach. Next question.’ So he was smooth and he’s been raised right,” said Brown, “[The Mannings are] the first family of college and pro football, probably because they’ve all played. He also seems like he listens. He’s very humble. He said it’s too much has been written about me, no more than I’ve accomplished. I mean, he’s kind of self-deprecating, but I like it. He’s a whole lot like Vince at the same age,” said Brown.

Texas fans hope Manning has a similar career to Young, the only Texas quarterback to win a national championship in the past 50 years.

The Longhorns will start their season with a huge test against the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes at The Horseshoe.
