Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian explains what makes Arch Manning special

Texas Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian was on ESPNs SportsCenter and talked about what makes quarterback Arch Manning special.

“I think he’s him, and I say that is he doesn’t try to be anything that he’s not, he’s a great guy, he’s got great rapport with his teammates, incredible work ethic not only on the football field but studying the game of football. He’s a really good teammate,” said Sarkisian, “ He’s great for our community, all the while he’s big he’s, physical he’s got a great arm, but that combination of he doesn’t try to get out of his own skin, he doesn’t ever try to be something that he’s not, so he’s very authentic. I think that rallies guys around him.”

Manning is heading into his first year as a starter after sitting behind Quinn Ewers for two seasons, and the expectations are sky high for the Louisiana native who has the top odds to win the Heisman despite his lack of starting quarterback experience.

Sarkisian said it was the ultimate compliment for a quarterback to have teammates who want to play not only with him but for him, and said he has instilled belief in this Longhorns team.

At SEC media day, Manning talked about the hype surrounding him, saying that words are wind and he still had to go out and prove how good he can be.
