UTSA baseball makes program history with win over Texas in NCAA Regional
UTSA won its first-ever NCAA Regional Championship with its win over No. 2 seed Texas, beating the Longhorns 7-4 in the final game of the Austin Regional.
Outfielder Mason Lytle went 4-for-9 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the Roadrunners’ two wins over Texas.
The Roadrunners were a perfect 3-0 against Texas this season and will advance to the Super Regional to play against UCLA.
The win was the 47th of the season for the Roadrunners in their sixth season under head coach Pat Hallmark.
Texas wasn’t the only top seed to fall over the weekend as No. 1-seeded Vanderbilt fell to Wright State, becoming the first national No. 1 seed to fail to advance to the regional final.
