TCU football notebook: Horned Frogs expecting key recruits for official visits

It should be a busy weekend for TCU football as the Horned Frogs are hosting a number of priority recruits for official visits from the Class of 2026.

TCU hasn’t picked up a commitment since March, but the Horned Frogs are currently trending in the right direction for a number of key targets and there’s optimism that this weekend of official visits could lead to more commitments.

Here’s a quick look at who’s expected to be in Fort Worth this weekend:

Defensive lineman Jesse Ford (Arlington, Texas): The highest rated commit in the class, the Arlington Martin standout is also set to return to campus. Ford is rated a top-200 prospect that had 49 tackles, 20.5 stops for a loss and 7.5 sacks.

Quarterback Jack Daulton (The Woodlands, Texas): Daulton committed to TCU in February and is headed back to campus to convince more talented players to join the class. Daulton is rated the No. 63 quarterback in the country by 247sports. As a junior, Daulton threw for 1,312 yards, 18 TDs, and 5 INTs while rushing for 1,142 yards and 18 touchdowns on 9.2 yards per carry.

EDGE Carter Back (Lake Travis, Texas): Another commitment scheduled to be in town is the talented edge rusher. Buck committed to TCU in January and is currently the second-highest commit in the Horned Frog’s class. The No. 44 edge rusher in the country had 48 tackles and two sacks last season.

Wide receiver Jayden Warren (Rosharon, Texas): Maybe the biggest visitor of the weekend, The Iowa Colony wideout would be a game-changer for TCU’s class. Warren is a four-star prospect that is ranked No. 136 overall according to the 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-2 receiver had 26 receptions, 613 yards and 14 touchdowns. Expect Daulton to spend a lot of time with Warren as TCU tries to lock up one of the best receivers in the country.

Wide receiver Ayson Theus (Duncanville): The Horned Frogs would love to add a talented receiver from arguably the best program in Texas. Theus had over 1,000 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns while forming a dynamic duo with Oregon signee Dakorien Moore. Theus could have a monster season for Duncanville and could improve his ranking that currently has him the No. 78 wide receiver according to 247sports.

Running back Ashton Rowden (New Boston, Texas): Rowden was one of the most productive running backs in the state last season as he piled up more than 1,700 yards and 22 touchdowns. Ranked a four-star prospect and the No. 286 prospect overall, Rowden would be a big addition to the class.

Cornerback Brock King (Port Arthur, Texas): The staff was hopeful earlier in the week they could the talented cornerback into town and it looks like their wish is coming true. King is rated the No. 893 prospect overall and was voted District 8-5A D-I Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore.
