Five things to know about new Dallas Cowboys running back Jaydon Blue

The Dallas Cowboys took their second offensive player of the draft when they selected Texas Longhorns RB Jaydon Blue with the No. 149 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Blue joins a Cowboys team looking to replace Rico Dowdle, who signed with the Carolina Panthers in the offseason, and signed Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams.

Here are five things to know about the running back.

Missed time in high school

While at Klein Cain High School in Houston, Blue sat out his final season after suffering several injuries earlier in his career because he wanted to get stronger and healthier as college approached.

One of the draft’s fastest backs

Blue was the second-fastest running back at the 2025 NFL Combine, running a 4.38 40-time, trailing only Virginia Tech’s Bhayshal Tuten.

SEC football fan coming up

Blue was a fan of the LSU Tigers growing up and called LSU his favorite childhood school; he considered going there before choosing Texas.

His first college offer

Blue’s first college offer came from the Longhorns and then head coach Tom Sherman. He would play for the Longhorns from 2022-24 while running for 1,161 yards with 11 touchdowns.
