What Coach Prime wants changed: Salary cap, no biker shorts
During the second day of Big 12 media days, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders did not hold back when asked what he’d like changed in college football
Sanders called for parameters to be in place for the amount of money players can earn and when players can receive NIL offers to transfer.
“It’s got to be a salary cap on this stuff because this stuff is going crazy and nobody know where it’s gonna land, where it’s gonna end, and you have so many different doors,” Sanders said. “I would see a player that said he got an offer from another school. And I’m trying to figure out why are you guys having investigators and how is that possible when the guy’s not in the portal. Now, if that was one of my players, you guys would be all over it.”
Sanders also suggested the college game to adopt similar rules to the NFL, such as requiring for two feet to be in bounds in order for a catch to be counted.
He also said he’d like to see standards for college football uniforms.
“We got guys out there in biker shorts,” Sanders said. “That makes me sick, because I’m a football guy. I played this game at a high level, and I have so much respect for this game. And how can we allow guys out there in biker shorts? No kneepads, no nothing, literally pants up under their thighs, and that’s cool. So I think they should be a fine implemented for that stuff and let’s have more respect for this tremendous game. “
Sanders did end with saying that the game, as it stands today, is in a good place. Colorado opens their season at home against Georgia Tech on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m.
