Parkway speed; superdelegates; intimidation
Parkway speed
Driving the portion of the Chisholm Trail Parkway that has the reduced 50 mph speed limit reinforces my impression that it’s an arbitrary imposition and likely speed trap for the commuters who are paying to use that highway.
Your Feb. 18 editorial (“Chisholm Trail speed needs resident input”) mentioned the surrounding neighborhoods, and they array thusly, south to north: office buildings, forested tracts, more office (construction) and the West Vickery Boulevard train yard.
These are not residential neighborhoods (I deduced this by the evident lack of bike trails) and they seem to have co-existed with the train yard peacefully for decades.
I guess the imposition of the speed limit for noise abatement purposes is a pre-emptive measure for when the government-mandated ethanol climbs to such a level that even my nice car will knock and ping so loudly as to awaken those not already awakened by the activity at the train yard.

Superdelegates
The name Democratic Party would seem to imply that the voters are in control of the nominating process.
Alas, it seems nothing could be further from the truth.
How is that possible?
The Democrats have a dirty little secret.
They have a category of delegates known as superdelegates who are not bound by the people’s vote.
This is reminiscent of backroom politics and smoke-filled rooms to produce the candidate of choice of the elite.

Intimidation
Two stories of intimidation in Texas:
First, Gov. Greg Abbott professes his support for police departments to allow the Christian cross to be displayed on government vehicles.
Second, a group of black high school students on a college tour are approached by several white college students prominently showcasing Confederate flag symbols and verbally abusing them.
We are not a theocracy — yet — and freedom of speech ends when it bullies others.
We know intimidation when we see it.
