We just hit 100 degrees for the first time in 2026. See how hot this weekend will be
It’s hot outside — and North Texas has officially begun the hottest days of 2026.
Dallas-Fort Worth officially recorded its first 100-degree day of the year on Tuesday, July 7. The high temp was recorded at DFW Airport a little after 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. This is a little bit later than the average for when the first triple-digit temperatures hit the area, which is usually July 1. The last time the area hit 100 degrees was September 4, 2025.
Last year, the DFW area only hit 100 degrees seven times. Within the last decade, 2023 was the year with the most 100-degree days, at 55.
How hot will it be the rest of the week?
The high for North Texas on Wednesday, July 8 is 99 degrees, with isolated storm chances for areas east of Interstate 35. Gusty winds are the main threats with these storms, but they may also feature some heavy rain and frequent lightning.
Thursday, July 9, the high is back to 100 degrees, with highs ranging in between 96-99 degrees and lows in the mid- to upper-70s from Friday, July 10 until Monday, July 13, according to the NWS Fort Worth. A few scattered showers and storms will be back starting Saturday night.
Heat index values will be up to 105 degrees for the rest of the week.
