Cold front bringing rain and cooler temperatures to North Texas this weekend

North Texas will see rain and a drop in temperatures this weekend.

A cold front will move through the region late Friday, April 17, into Saturday, April 18, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Scattered showers and storms will accompny the front as it moves in overnight.

Rain will continue Saturday morning and into the afternoon. The severe weather threat is low. However, some storms could produce gusty winds, per the NWS. By Saturday night, skies will be mostly clear, leading to a dry Sunday, April 19.

Temperatures will be in the low 80s Friday, followed by the mid-60s Saturday and low 70s Sunday.

Anyone going to the Main Street Arts Festival and/or the Fort Worth Art Fair in downtown Fort Worth on Saturday may want to bring an umbrella.

A look ahead to next week

Cool temperatures will continue into early next week.

Daily highs will be in the low 70s on Monday, April 20, and Tuesday, April 21, according to the NWS. Temperatures will increase into the low 80s on Wednesday, April 22, and Thursday, April 23.

In addition, there’s low chances for rain next week. Here’s a look at the daily forecast:

  • Friday, April 17- 84 degrees, 70% chance of rain overnight
  • Saturday, April 18- 64 degrees, 60% chance of rain
  • Sunday, April 19- 73 degrees
  • Monday, April 20- 71 degrees
  • Tuesday, April 21- 71 degrees, 20% chance of rain
  • Wednesday, April 22- 82 degrees
  • Thursday, April 23- 84 degrees, 20% chance of rain
