Record-breaking heat is in the mix for North Texas. Will we reach 100 degrees?
Record-breaking heat is in store for North Texas this weekend.
Before then, conditions will be warm and sunny on Thursday, March 19, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Daily highs will be in the upper 80s, which is higher than normal but several degrees below the record for the day.
The first chance to break a heat record comes on Friday, March 20, with forecasted high of 93 degrees. If that temperature comes to pass, it will break the 92-degree record set for March 20 in 2017.
North Texas will get close to the record on Saturday, March 21, with a 95-degree high. The record for March 21 came in 1916 at 100 degrees, according to NWS climate data.
Another record-breaking day is in store for Sunday, March 22. The 97-degree forecasted high would be greater than the 93-degree record recorded in 1995.
While temperatures will be hot this weekend, triple digits are not in the forecast. In addition, rain is nowhere to be found.
Warm weather continues next week
After the hot weekend, temperatures will cool down some heading into next week.
Daily highs around 80 degrees are in store for Monday, March 23, followed by the mid-80s on Tuesday, March 24. Temperatures begin to heat up midweek with highs in the low 90s on Wednesday, March 25.
Conditions appear to be rain-free next week as of now, according to the NWS.
