Warm weekend ahead for North Texas before rain and storms return

North Texas is in store for a warm and sunny weekend.

The warmest temperatures of the week are expected over the weekend as highs will be 15 to 25 degrees above normal, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. The normal maximum temperature for Feb. 28 and March 1 is 64 degrees.

Temperatures will kick around the low 80s on Saturday, Feb. 28, and Sunday, March 1.

Most of North Texas will be rain-free with sunny skies overheard, according to the NWS. Some areas of the region, mainly along the Red River, have a low chance of rain late Saturday into Sunday.

Warm temperatures continue as rain returns

Heading into next week, above normal temperatures will continue with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Rain and storm chances will be in the mix by midweek, with the greatest coverage expected Wednesday, March 4, through Friday, March 6, according to the NWS. Some of these storms could be strong to severe.

Here’s a look at daily highs and rain chances for the next week:

  • Saturday, Feb. 28- 83 degrees
  • Sunday, March 1- 82 degrees
  • Monday, March 2- 78 degrees
  • Tuesday, March 3- 82 degrees, 30% chance of storms overnight
  • Wednesday, March 4- 78 degrees, 60% chance of storms during the day and overnight
  • Thursday, March 5- 80 degrees, 50% chance of storms during the day and overnight
