Rain finally back in the forecast for North Texas. Here’s when storms arrive

For the first time in weeks, rain is in the North Texas forecast.

It’s been a warm and dry start to the new year with daily temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to low 70s. But according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth, both of those things are expected to change later this week and into the weekend.

Daily highs will be in the mid-70s on Tuesday, Jan. 6, followed by the upper 70s on Wednesday. These temperatures are 15 to 25 degrees above normal, according to NWS climate data.

By late Wednesday, a storm system will arrive in the Metroplex bringing low chances of showers overnight. Low rain chances will continue on Thursday and wrap up by late evening.

In addition to rain, storms will help lower temperatures a few degrees to the mid-70s Thursday.

Cool weekend on the horizon

Heading into the weekend, temperatures will continue to dip.

Daily highs will be in the low 60s on Friday, Jan. 8, and the upper 50s on Saturday, according to the NWS. Similar temperatures in the upper 50s will be in the forecast on Sunday, Jan. 10.
