More storms could cause flash flooding in North Texas. Here’s the latest
After a rainy end to the week, additional storms will return over the weekend.
Much of North Texas saw rain throughout Thursday, Nov. 20, including 3.95 inches at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, according to National Weather Service Fort Worth climate data. Skies will dry out over Friday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 22.
Heading into Sunday, Nov. 23, another wave of showers and thunderstorms will arrive in the region.
Areas in the western part of the Metroplex will see activity over Sunday morning and afternoon, per the NWS. The rest of the region will see storms from Sunday evening into the afternoon hours on Monday, Nov. 24.
The heaviest rainfall and potential for flooding will be in the Sunday evening to Monday morning frame, with totals between 1 and 3 inches possible. Some isolated areas could see up to 4 inches as well, according to the NWS.
Since North Texas recently had significant rainfall, flash flooding is the primary threat with this activity. The threat for severe weather is low, however, a few storms could contain small to marginally severe hail and strong winds over Sunday.
All rain is expected to end by Monday evening, according to the NWS.
Cooler weather on the horizon
As storms move in Sunday, temperatures will dip into the upper 60s.
Daily highs will stick around the low 70s Monday and on Tuesday, Nov. 25, according to the NWS. Temperatures will dip even lower on Wednesday, Nov. 26, into the upper 50s.
Heading into Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, temperatures will also be in the upper 50s.
