North Texas may see its first freeze of the season this weekend.
A strong cold front will move across the region late Saturday, Nov. 8, bringing the coldest air of fall thus far, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Highs will be in the upper 50s on Sunday, Nov. 9, with overnight lows right in the low 30s.
This season’s first freeze is increasing likely to occur late Sunday into early Monday, Nov. 10, in rural areas, according to the NWS. Wind chill values on Monday morning will be between 22 and 30 degrees.
In addition to the chilly temperatures, gusty winds will also be a factor Sunday behind the cold front. Gusts up to 35 mph are possible Sunday afternoon, the NWS said.
Warm temperatures remain before cool down
Before temperatures cool down Sunday, North Texans can expect a hot start to the weekend.
Daily highs will be in the low 80s on Friday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, according to the NWS. Overnight lows will be in the upper 40s to mid-50s.
Skies will remain dry and clear over the weekend.
Cool temperatures to remain next week
After the chilly Sunday and Monday, temperatures will increase but remain relatively cool next week.
