Rain, cooler temperatures in the mix for North Texas as cold front arrives
It’s been a warm October, but heat relief is on the way.
North Texas has reached or surpassed 90 degrees seven times this month, according to National Weather Service Fort Worth climate data. On the other five days, temperatures have been in the upper 80s.
The NWS said an upper-level pattern change will bring a cold front to the Metroplex this weekend from Saturday, Oct. 18, to Sunday, Oct. 19.
This front will bring widely scattered storms to the region, starting late Friday, Oct. 17, through Sunday. The front will also bring cooler temperatures to North Texas starting early next week.
As of Monday, the NWS said there’s a few uncertainties with this activity in how far west the higher rain chances will be, in addition to how cool temperatures will be next week. As the event nears, the NWS will have a better picture of what to expect.
