Hail, damaging winds possible this weekend in Fort Worth. Here’s when severe storms arrive
A warm and stormy weekend is in the mix for North Texas.
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected across much of the D-FW region on Friday, March 28, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. The best rain chances will be along and south of Interstate 20, and along and east of Interstate 35.
Rainfall totals will be half an inch to one inch Friday. Severe weather is not expected with these storms, according to the NWS. Storms will move out of the region late Friday.
Warm Saturday leads to stormy Sunday
Clearing skies and cool temperatures will lead to patchy fog across North Texas on Saturday, March 29.
Conditions will be sunny and warm by Saturday afternoon, with temperatures in the mid-80s, according to the NWS. By late Saturday, isolated thunderstorms could develop and last into early Sunday, March 30. The main threat with these storms are large hail and damaging winds.
A larger threat for severe storms will come Sunday afternoon, with hail and damaging winds as the main threats. There will also be low potential for tornadoes, according to the NWS. The greatest threat for severe weather will be along and east of I-35.
By Sunday evening, the storm system will move east and quickly diminish. Heading into next week, conditions will be sunny and cool on Monday, March 31.
