Strong to severe storms possible in Fort Worth. Here’s when rain arrives this weekend
After starting the week with storms, North Texas will head into the weekend following suit.
The National Weather Service Fort Worth confirmed that two EF-1 tornadoes touched down in the Metroplex on March 4. One tornado touched down in Irving, the other in Wise County near Cottondale.
Storm chances return to the forecast late Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8, with a cold front.
Lightning and brief heavy rain will be the main threats. However, there is low potential for strong to severe storms that could produce large hail and gusty winds, according to the NWS.
Strong to severe weather is unlikely Saturday morning, as scattered showers move in from the west, according to the NWS.
Over Saturday afternoon, scattered showers and storms are expected, along with the low chance for severe storms. The NWS recommends folks take it slow on wet roads and plan for interruptions to outdoor activities Saturday.
Heading into Sunday, March 9, cool and breezy weather is expected. Daily highs will be in the 50s, followed by overnight lows in the 30s.
Pleasant weather will continue into next week, with several days of 70-degree temperatures on the horizon.
