Downright cold: Think Monday’s weather was miserable? North Texas is about to get frigid
After summer-like warm temperatures last Saturday, North Texas will take a dreary and cold turn this week.
Much of the region woke up to rain on Monday that will persist throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Daily highs are expected to be in the mid-40s Monday.
Rain chances will increase over Monday’s evening hours, with most of North Texas receiving showers into early Tuesday.
Isolated thunderstorms possible in North Texas
Tuesday will be the best chance for precipitation in the Metroplex this week, as some areas have a 100% chance of rain.
Widespread rain and isolated thunderstorms are in store for much of North Texas on Tuesday, according to the NWS. Temperatures will be chilly Tuesday, with highs in upper 40s.
Showers will continue late Tuesday and overnight into Wednesday. Widespread rainfall and isolated thunderstorms are also expected Wednesday, as highs stick around the low 50s.
Average rainfall totals through Wednesday will be between 1 to 2 inches, with isolated totals near 3 inches.
The rain ends late Wednesday, but that’s when it gets cold. Thursday morning lows will be in the upper teens in the northwest part of our region. “Wind chills Thursday morning will likely be in the 10 to 25 degree range,” forecasters say.
Temperatures will climb into the low 40s on Thursday and conditions are expected to stay rain-free.
In Central Texas, energy from a passing shortwave weather could produce sprinkles and a few sleet pellets Thursday, according to the NWS.
