It was hot Monday in North Texas. How hot? We tied a 114-year-old February climate record

North Texas tied a climate record set over a century ago.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport recorded 84 degrees Monday, which ties the previous Feb. 3 high set in 1911, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth.

The hottest temperatures recorded Monday in North Texas was 90 degrees at Possum Kingdom State Park. However, since the NWS uses DFW Airport as their main climate site for North Texas, the Feb. 3 record stands at 84 degrees.

Sunny and warm week to continue

Sunny and warm conditions will persist this week, ahead of a cold front later this weekend.

Mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast for Tuesday morning, as sunshine will poke through in the afternoon, according to the NWS. Tuesday’s temperatures will be in the mid- to upper 60s.

Conditions will warm back up Wednesday, Feb. 5, as temperatures climb into the mid-70s to upper 80s and stay that way through Saturday, Feb. 8.

A cold front will arrive in the region late Saturday, lowering temperatures into the low 50s to upper 60s on Sunday, Feb. 9. A 20% chance of rain is also in the forecast Sunday, according to the NWS.
