Are roads clear to drive to Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium? Arlington says city is ready
In spite of the recent winter storm, the city of Arlington is ready to welcome fans to Friday night’s Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium, officials said.
The kickoff time for the College Football Playoff semifinal game between Texas and Ohio State is 6:30 p.m.
The Public Works team has treated the city’s bridges and overpasses and the streets around the stadium to clear ice and snow, according to Arlington spokesperson Susan Schrock. Snow plows and other equipment will also be on standby if needed ahead of the game.
The main lanes of highways in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are clear for those who are planning to drive from surrounding cities for the Cotton Bowl, according to Texas Department of Transportation spokesperson Michael Peters. Crews will continue treating roads throughout the day and removing snow accumulated on the shoulders.
Motorists are reminded to drive according to the conditions and leave some extra space around them, Peters said.
Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing most of the day with a high of 36 degrees, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth.
AT&T Stadium parking lots open at 2:30 p.m., and the gates open at 4:30 p.m., according to Schrock.
“We just hope folks have a great time,” she said.
