School closings & delays: Latest from ISDs in Fort Worth and Tarrant County
Here are the latest public school and university closures and cancellations across Fort Worth/Tarrant County due to the winter storm coming Thursday.

Aledo ISD : CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “Coaches and sponsors are working on schedules for events that are scheduled for Friday and Saturday; your coach/sponsor will contact you with specific details and information.”The district will notify the community by 5:30 a.m. the day of scheduled classes if needed for other closures.
Arlington ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. All after-school activities and child care services are also closed both days. “Students and staff will return to school and work on Monday, Jan. 13.”

Azle ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. Classes will resume on Monday, Jan. 13. The district sends notifications via text message and email as well as postings on its website and social media. Delays are always two hours, and there’s no breakfast served on those days. Notifications are usually determined no later than 6 a.m.
Birdville ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “The winter storm that moved into our area is expected to continue dropping snow, creating continued challenges and potentially dangerous conditions for students and staff traveling to and from school.” The district posts closure notifications on its website, Facebook, X, Birdville ISD News and the main voicemail at 817-547-5700.
Burleson ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. Notices are posted on its website and social media, and through automated emails and texts to parents. Update contact info here.
A Centennial High School swim meet was rescheduled from Thursday, Jan. 9, to Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Carroll ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “The safety of our students, staff, and community remains our top priority. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these weather challenges.” The district monitors conditions with Southlake’s Emergency Management team. Changes to schedules are communicated before 6 a.m. via the district’s emergency telephone notification system. To update your contact info, contact your child’s school.
Castleberry ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. Notices are sent via ParentSquare as a text message, email and automated phone call. Update contact info here.
Crowley ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. Decisions are announced by 5 a.m. and posted on social media, the district website and via calls and texts through Skyward.
Decatur ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “All school events, extracurricular activities, and facility rentals will also be canceled on Friday, Jan. 10. Classes are scheduled to resume and students will return to schools on Monday, Jan. 13.”
Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “With improved weather conditions expected this weekend, all school-related activities planned for Saturday, Jan. 11, remain scheduled at this time. We look forward to seeing all our students and staff back in school on Monday, Jan. 13.” More details about the inclement weather process and procedures at EMS ISD are available on the district website.
Everman ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. Extra-curricular activities are also canceled. Delays or closures are announced by automated texts, emails and/or calls, and posted on Facebook and the district website.
Fort Worth ISD: CLOSED Thursday and Friday. “Early College and Dual Credit students should check with their respective colleges for updates regarding online classes. All after-school programs and athletic events scheduled for both days are canceled, with varsity games to be rescheduled.” Fort Worth school closures or delays are announced via email, text and calls. Godley ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. Check the district’s website for updates.
Grand Prairie ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. Decisions are usually made by 5 a.m. via automated email, text and/or calls. Check contact info in Skyward is up to date.
“Varsity basketball games are moving from Friday to Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (girls varsity) and 3:30 p.m. (boys varsity). South Grand Prairie is at home against Arlington Martin while Grand Prairie is away at Arlington Sam Houston. No sub-varsity games will be played, only varsity.”
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “All facilities will be closed and any scheduled practices and activities are also canceled. Any changes to weekend extracurricular activities will be communicated by the group’s sponsor or coach. GCISD’s 2024-2025 instructional calendar has a sufficient number of minutes to cover this weather-related closure and the days will not have to be made up.” The district makes announcements via phone, email, its website and social media. Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “Most after-school and evening activities for Friday are also canceled or will be rescheduled. Please watch for additional communications from your teacher, coach, or organizers of specific events. Plans are still being finalized for high school varsity basketball games and the Trinity Wrestling Tournament.”
“We are closely monitoring weather forecasts for later this week. If it becomes necessary to change or cancel our school day schedule, we will share that information with parents & guardians immediately using our mass notification email and text message system. IDEA Public Schools: All 5 IDEA Tarrant County campuses will be CLOSED on Thursday and Friday.
Keller ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “All planned activities – including athletics and fine arts events – are also canceled. We expect schools and offices to reopen Monday, Jan. 13.” Decisions are made by 5:30 a.m., first posted on the district’s website followed by email and push notifications to the Keller ISD Mobile App. Official Keller ISD social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram) will also have information regarding any closings or delays. Kennedale ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. Mass notifications are sent via ParentSquare, phone and email. Check contact info here.
Lake Worth ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “This cancellation includes Tadpole Learning Center and all after-school activities.”

Mansfield ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “All after-school activities, athletic games and practices are canceled unless otherwise communicated from our athletic and fine arts departments.” The district sends mass emails and texts. Northwest ISD: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. Classes are scheduled to resume on Monday, Jan. 13. The district tries to make decisions by 5 a.m. If conditions are deteriorating the day before, announcements are no later than 9:30 p.m. More info here.
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary & Texas Baptist College: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. “All classes will be held virtually, as will New Student Orientation, scheduled for Jan. 10. The Church Fair, also scheduled for Jan. 10, is rescheduled for Jan. 21 at noon. In accordance with the policy on inclement weather in the Employee Handbook, all full-time employees are expected to work remotely, if possible. Employees should consult with their supervisors. Only essential seminary services will be provided, including Campus Police, the Food Hall (with limited hours), and Facilities. Those who live on campus are requested to avoid untreated surfaces as it will not be possible to clear all surfaces.”
Tarrant County College: CLOSED Thursday and Friday. “In-person classes and services will be remote. On-campus events and activities are canceled.” Schedule changes are announced via myTCC Alerts (email, phone and/or text), the TCC website and Facebook.
TCU: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. The university uses TCU Alert to send texts, calls and email about delays or closings. Announcements are also posted on TCU’s homepage and TCU News as well as Facebook and Instagram.
Texas Wesleyan University: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday, and the university’s operations “will shift to a remote work environment.”
University of Texas at Arlington: CLOSED on Thursday and Friday. The closures affect the UTA Research Institute, the UTA Fort Worth Center and all other UTA locations, officials said.

- Parking Under Cover: “After 5 pm” parking rules will be in effect through 12 AM Sunday, 1/12. All permit holders can enjoy relaxed parking rules and park in the West Campus or College Park garages without additional fees. Note: A valid parking permit is still required to park on campus
- MavMover Shuttle Buses: Daytime service will likely end at 6 PM Wednesday. Evening Red Route service may also be impacted. Stay informed by checking announcements in the TripShot app.
- RAPID Self-Driving Shuttle: Service between UTA and Downtown will operate as long as conditions allow.
- UT Arlington’s women’s basketball game against Utah Tech will have an earlier start time of 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9. As of now, another game against Southern Utah scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 11 is still scheduled for 2 p.m.
University of North Texas: UNT will CLOSE its Denton and Frisco campuses Thursday and Friday. The UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth is also closed both days. “All employees who are eligible and able to work remotely should do so.” You may continue to find updated information about campus operations by visiting unt.edu.
White Settlement ISD: CLOSED Thursday and Friday. ”We are monitoring the inclement weather that is forecasted for Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10. We will notify our families about any changes in the school day as quickly as possible. In the event of a cancellation, parents will be notified through SchoolStatus, the WSISD website and social media channels, and local TV and radio stations. Visit the website for more information.”
