Fort Worth ISD has a plan for this week’s winter weather. How parents can stay up to date

This story has been updated with the latest weather procedures for Fort Worth ISD.

Fort Worth ISD is closely monitoring the imminent winter weather and will welcome back students on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The National Weather Service is tracking snowfall that will begin arriving in the region late Wednesday, Jan. 8. Up to 6 inches of snow is possible from Wednesday to early Friday, Jan. 10.

Ahead of the winter weather and amid cold temperatures, Fort Worth ISD has revealed how the district is preparing. Here’s what to know.

Fort Worth ISD winter weather plans

Schools across the district are ensuring that heating systems are operational and ready to welcome students during freezing conditions.

The district canceled soccer games scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 7 and canceled middle school boys B-team basketball games scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 9.

Middle school boys A-team basketball games scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 9 were rescheduled to Wednesday, Jan. 8. High school basketball games will move forward as scheduled.

If school is delayed or canceled this week, notices will immediately be posted through the following channels:

  • All Fort Worth ISD social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • The Fort Worth ISD website
  • Notices will be forwarded to local radio, television and newspaper outlets
