Storms could bring hail and damaging winds to Dallas-Fort Worth on Wednesday
Severe weather could potentially bring large hail and damaging winds to Dallas-Fort Worth late Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Strong to severe storms are accompanying a cold front moving into North Texas on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Isolated showers are in the mix during the day, before severe weather arrives in the evening hours.
Much of the region will see rain Wednesday, but the main weather threats will be large hail and damaging winds.
Storm timing for severe weather Wednesday into Halloween
The NWS has outlined storm timing for several regions in North Texas over late Wednesday into early Thursday:
Cisco, Mineral Wells and Bowie
- Earliest start: 10 p.m. Wednesday
- Most likely: 1-3 a.m. Thursday
- Ending by: 4 a.m. Thursday
Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton and Stephenville
- Earliest start: 2 a.m. Thursday
- Most likely: 3-6 a.m. Thursday
- Ending by: 8 a.m. Thursday
Canton, Waco and Centerville
- Earliest start: 5 a.m. Thursday
- Most likely: 6-10 a.m. Thursday
- Ending by: Noon Thursday
Cool Halloween in store for trick-or-treaters
After the stormy Wednesday and early Thursday, conditions are looking calm and cool for Halloween night.
Mostly clear skies are in the forecast for North Texas, with cooler temperatures due to the cold front, according to the NWS. Here’s a look at temperatures on Halloween night:
- 5 p.m.- 73 degrees
- 7 p.m.- 69 degrees
- 9 p.m.- 66 degrees
- 11 p.m.- 63 degrees
Rainy weather to continue into the weekend
An active weather pattern is expected to stick around North Texas into the weekend and early next week.
The highest chances of rain will come on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Monday, Nov. 4, per the NWS. Rain amounts will average 1.5 to 3 inches from Saturday through Tuesday, Nov. 5.
There’s a low threat for severe weather this weekend, mainly late on Saturday.
