After a prolonged period of warm to hot weather deep into October, North Texas residents might be wondering when it will cool down.

On Friday, Oct. 25, it is expected to be hot and dry, with temperatures ranging from mid-80s to low 90s, according to the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth.

Based on NWS data up until Oct. 24, the month has seen eight days with a high temperature of at least 90 degrees.

But the end is in sight.

The NWS service says, “Above normal temperatures and rain-free conditions will prevail for the next several days... but there is potential for a pattern change late next week with a high chance (80%) for measurable rain.”

The agency is also predicting a 20% possibility of rain showers beginning on Oct. 30.

“If the current forecast verifies, this October will be knocked out of the running for the driest October on record...an honor I think we would all like to pass on!” said a Fort Worth meteorologist.

When could it rain and cool down in Fort Worth?

The “cold front” in question does not have the chilliest temperatures; however, it’s better than the heat right now. It is important to note that the Farmer’s Almanac and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predict a “temperate and uneventful winter” with “warm and dry” conditions.
