Summer is not over yet in Dallas-Fort Worth. It could feel like 100 degrees this weekend
After a cool start to September, summer-like temperatures are back in Dallas-Fort Worth.
High temperatures will be in the mid-90s this weekend, with heat index values reaching 100 degrees, said Sarah Barnes, meteorologist at the National Weather Service Fort Worth office.
The heat will continue into next week with temperatures in the low to mid-90s for much of North Texas. Heat index values are expected to be close to triple digits over the week, Barnes said.
As far as rain chances, Barnes said there are not any for the next seven days.
Why has summer heat returned?
Typically, September is an extension of summertime in North Texas.
Big cold fronts usually don’t arrive in the region until October, Barnes said. Sometimes North Texas will see cold fronts during September, like it did last week, but now temperatures are back in the 90s.
