Storms with large hail, even tornadoes to hit Dallas-Fort Worth Thursday. Here’s when

Severe thunderstorms return to Dallas-Fort Worth later Thursday with possible threats of large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain and tornadoes.

North Texas has been enduring severe weather over the past several days, including a line of storms that killed seven people and injured at least 100 in Denton and Cooke counties late Saturday and early Sunday morning.

On Thursday, storms approaching from the west will arrive in North Texas in the afternoon and into the evening hours, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.

The first round of storms will impact North Texas in the morning and afternoon hours, before a strong to severe set of storms arrive later on Thursday.

The timing of the Storms for cities in the western part of the Metroplex such as Mineral Wells, Breckenridge and Jacksboro is from 8 p.m. Thursday to 1 a.m. Friday.

Timing for Dallas-Fort Worth proper is between 10 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday, according to the NWS. Eastern cities such as Athens and Palestine will need to watch for storms between 2 to 7 a.m. Friday.

The main threats for Thursday’s severe weather will be large hail, damaging winds and flooding. Possible tornadoes can’t be ruled out.
