Rain and cooler temperatures expected in Dallas-Fort Worth. Here’s when showers start
Dallas-Fort Worth will see more of the same weather Wednesday as at the start of the week: breezy with highs in the low 80s. But a cold front is expected to bring unstable air into North and Central Texas later in the day possibly bringing showers and much cooler temperatures by the evening, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth office.
“By late Wednesday evening, the cold front will be passing through the Red River Valley and on its way to North & Central Texas,” NWS meteorologist Madison Gordon says on a forecasters chat. “Falling temperatures and northerly winds are expected behind the front with intermittent gusts around 25 to 30 mph.”
Things will cool down considerably heading into the weekend with highs in the 50s and 60s. Nighttime temperatures will drop to the 40s and 50s, says the NWS report.
Spotty showers will begin to develop early Thursday morning, “thanks to the shortwave remnants of the decayed low pressure off the coast of the Baja Peninsula,” Gordon said.
Rain will increase intensity by midday and a few rumbles of thunder may be heard. The rain will move out of the region on Friday.
“As the front crosses Central Texas in the afternoon, instability may be just enough to develop a couple of strong storms with gusty winds and small hail, but the lack of greater instability will inhibit any severe storms,” she said.
