Dallas-Fort Worth kicks off the week with unseasonably warm and dry weather with highs in the 80s, falling just shy of the record. But by Thursday a cold front is expected to arrive bringing with it moisture and more seasonable temperatures, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth office.

“Fortunately we`ll remain well shy of daily record highs for November 6th which are 89 degrees for both DFW and Waco,” said NWS meteorologist Matt Stalley.

The warmer than normal temperatures will continue through Wednesday, the NWS report states.

An “upper low” system — which is like a surface cyclone, but most of its energy is located further upward in the atmosphere — that is centered near the U.S./Manitoba/Ontario border will push the cold front south into the Midwest Wednesday night and into Thursday. Another disturbance from the south will meet up with the cold front bringing showers and thunderstorms to North Texas.

Most of the rain chances in the Dallas-Fort Worth area “will be on Thursday and generally along and east of I-35, with all precipitation exiting to the southeast Thursday night or Friday morning,” according to the NWS.

By the weekend, temperatures are expected to drop as rain moves east. North Texas can expect highs in the low to mid 60s with evenings cooling down to the 40s.

Our next cold front will bring more seasonable temperatures along with a chance of rain to the region on Thursday. The best rain chances will be north of I-20during the day Thursday and east of I-35 Thursday night. Occasional thunderstorms may occur, but severe weather is unlikely, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth office.
