Its going to be another scorcher of a weekend in North Texas, and hopefully rain chances in the forecast for next week will cool things down.

The sweltering heat will persist over the weekend with temperatures expected to be well over triple digits. With the humidity, expect higher heat index values, said Sarah Barnes, meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.

Friday’s high is expected to be 107 degrees, followed by 108 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday. The rain chances will slightly lower the temperature for early next week, with Monday’s high expected to be 103 and Tuesday’s right around 100 degrees, Barnes said.

“We’re not fully confident that we’ll for sure see rain but at least there’s a chance,” Barnes said. “Better than no chance.”

As of Friday, North Texas has recorded 26 days over 100 degrees this year. The hottest day of the year was on July 18 with a scorching temperature of 108 degrees.
