It’s about to get to 103 degrees in Fort Worth. Here’s when heat starts and when it ends
It looks like North Texas will finally record its first 100-degree day of the year this weekend.
The weather pattern that brought storms to North Texas on Monday and Tuesday is finally on its way out, said Hunter Reeves, meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.
Temperatures will heat up on Thursday — with the forecast pointing to a high of 90 degrees — portending triple-digit days later in the weekend. The high for Friday is 103 degrees, followed by Saturday and Sunday at both 102 degrees.
“Summer is definitely coming back in full swing here,” Reeves said.
Along with the triple-digit temperatures, the heat index will make the heat feel hotter — this weekend may feel like 105 to 110 degrees, Reeves said. The heat index is what the temperature feels like to the human body when combined with humidity and air temperature.
As for the Juneteenth holiday on Monday, the high is expected to be 106 degrees.
On average, when does North Texas record its first 100 degree day of the year?
The first 100-degree day in North Texas typically doesn’t occur until July 1.
Last year broke the average a tad earlier, recording a 103-degree day on June 11. It was one of the hottest June on record the Star-Telegram reported then. Unless the forecast changes, North Texas will record its first triple digit day of 2023 on June 16.
