Severe storms with damaging winds, hail possible Friday as cold front enters North Texas
Parts of North Texas could see severe storms Friday afternoon ahead of a pleasant weekend as a cold front pushes through the area, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
NWS meteorologist Miles Langfeld said showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop along the cold front, and some of the storms could be severe. The greatest threat is damaging wind, but there’s also a possibility of large hail.
The storms will likely start developing around 2 to 3 p.m. and are expected to move out of the region by 9 or 10 p.m.
It’s likely that parts of North Texas won’t see any storms at all, according to Langfeld.
“Coverage will be more scattered in nature instead of widespread,” Langfeld said.
There is a 50-60% chance of rain Friday, according to Langfeld, but the weekend is expected to be pleasant with temperatures in the 70s and low 80s. There is no rain forecast for the weekend.
