More severe weather could find its way to North Texas on Friday as a cold front moves into the region, bringing with it the threats of hail, damaging winds and tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

Storms are expected to arrive in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., carrying on until around 9 p.m.

Hail from the storms could reach 2 inches or larger in diameter and showers and storms could linger overnight after the front moves through.

The tornado potential will be highest south of I-20 and along and west of I- 35, the weather service said.

While isolated thunderstorms are possible Saturday, the cold front is expected to invite in a weekend and early week of mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s and 80s. Cloud coverage could start returning to DFW on Monday, with Tuesday seeing mostly cloudy conditions.
