Triple-digit temperatures expected this week in North Texas; high ozone levels possible
Temperatures will be at or near triple digits this week in North Texas, and conditions are expected to cause high levels of ozone on Monday.
Monday is expected to be a mostly sunny, hot and humid day with afternoon highs around 100 degrees for Tarrant and Dallas counties, according to the National Weather Service.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality issued an Ozone Action Day on Monday as atmospheric conditions are expected to be favorable for producing high levels of ozone. The National Weather Service says residents can help prevent ozone pollution by ride sharing, using public transportation or limiting drive time.
Conditions may be unhealthy for sensitive groups and outdoor activities should be limited, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures will remain hot and rain-free for the rest of the week, with highs near triple digits for Dallas-Fort Worth.
Areas west of the Interstate 35 corridor may reach 103 to 105 degrees late in the week. This could result in elevated fire weather conditions, according to the National Weather Service.
