Temperatures in 90s, rain chances: Here’s what you need to know about Fort Worth forecast
After tornadoes earlier this week, spring is underway in North Texas with a little of everything in the forecast, including sunshine, blue skies and rising temperatures into the 90s followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms as a storm system approaches next week.
Starting Friday, Fort Worth and the rest of the Metroplex will see a jump in temperature. After a high in the upper 60s Thursday, the weekend is bringing summer temperatures with highs in the low to mid 80s before reaching the 90s early next week into Tuesday.
Skies are expected to remain clear and sunny, with light winds, bringing a chance for fire danger, particularly west of Dallas-Fort Worth. But the Metroplex is also included in the elevated fire risk area on Sunday.
“With no rain in the forecast this weekend and into early next week, the fire weather threat will be increasing along with expected high temperatures,” the National Weather Service said. “Highs will be in the 80s to 90s by Monday with breezy south/southwesterly winds in place. This will lead to a potential for fire starts and rapid spread, especially on Sunday.”
Although temperature highs are expected to remain in the low 80s Tuesday, it also marks the start of potential storms in the area, with a 20% chance for showers throughout the day before increasing to 50% Tuesday night into Wednesday.
“Rain chances will increase by the middle of [the] week as the next system approaches from the west,” the weather service said. “Although it’s too early to assess with confidence the threat for severe weather, it’s not too late to prepare for the next severe weather event.”
