Thunderstorms packing damaging winds, some hail expected to hit overnight in North Texas
Thunderstorms are headed for North Texas, and a few of the storms will have some damaging winds and hail.
The storms should hit Tarrant County sometime early Thursday, and move quickly through the area. There’s an 80 percent chance of rain overnight.
Weather forecasters said the threat of an isolated tornado is possible.
“The greatest threat for severe thunderstorms is northwest of Tarrant County,” said meteorologist Bianca Garcia with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth on Wednesday.
It will remain cloudy Wednesday with south winds of 15 to 20 mph and wind gusts up to 30 mph.
The daytime high for Wednesday should be 71 degrees in Tarrant County.
The nighttime thunderstorms are associated with a dryline and cold front that will arrive in North Texas after midnight Thursday morning.
Rainfall totals should be less than an inch of rain.
North Texans will have cooler temperatures on Thursday, with highs in the upper 50s.
The weekend should be sunny in Tarrant County with cool temperatures during the day.
Rain chances return on Monday and Tuesday to Tarrant County, according to NWS in Fort Worth.
There’s a 40 percent chance of rain on Monday and another 40 percent on Tuesday.
Elevated fire weather conditions, with a risk of grass and wildfires, will return next week to the western parts of the North Texas region, according to the NWS in Fort Worth
