Long periods of blue skies and sunny weather are being noticed by residents all over Dallas-Fort Worth as the National Weather Service confirmed, this December is hotter, averaging nearly 12 degrees warmer, than in years prior.

Typically averaging around 61.1 degrees in December, the National Weather Service said in 2021’s December so far, the region is seeing temperatures around 72.6 degrees.

The weather service was unable to predict a week in advance what temperatures nearing Christmas will be like, but Accuweather is predicting mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 60s, which is subject to change as the holidays near.

The Christmas temperatures are a little higher than normal, typically around the mid to high 50s, but DFW likely won’t see any record breaking weather.

The record for the warmest Christmas Eve dates back to 1955 where the high reached 88 degrees. For Christmas day, it was 80 in 2016, according to data by the National Weather Service.
