Yes, that was a record low, but Fort Worth weather will warm up for the weekend
Yes, North Texas that was a record low Thursday morning.
But the National Weather Service in Fort Worth says it won’t last as North Texas will warm up and clear up by the weekend.
For the record, it was 55 degrees at 3 a.m. Thursday at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, breaking the record low temperature for Sept. 10, according to the NWS in Fort Worth.
It just barely broke the record, which had been 56 degrees set in 1907 and 1941, according to the NWS in Fort Worth.
There is still a 50 percent chance of rain Thursday in North Texas, but the best chances for moisture will be counties to the northwest of Fort Worth. The daytime high was expected to be 70 on Thursday.
“Friday morning will not be as cold,” said meteorologist Patricia Sanchez at the NWS in Fort Worth in a telephone interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “It will still below normal for this time of the year.”
Meteorologists are calling for lows on Friday morning at 60 degrees. The record low for Sept. 11 is 53 degrees set in 1968.
The high temperatures on Friday will be in the upper 70s.
The weekend will be warmer. Weekend daytime temperatures will be in the upper 80s. Morning temperatures will be in the upper 60s.
Rain chances will return on Monday night, according to the weather service.
