Worst rain yet to come for Dallas-Fort Worth. What to expect for Thursday’s commute.
Expect those puddles of mud in your yard to get bigger tonight and tomorrow morning.
While the rain decided to take a break Wednesday afternoon, more water started to drench DFW Wednesday at about 5 p.m., and the rain was expected to continue into Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth.
About half-an-inch to an inch of rain was predicted in Tarrant County, Daniel Huckaby with the NWS said. While that should not result in flash flooding or widespread problems, drivers might see some water buildup on low-lying roads, and creeks and streams could overflow.
The rain on Wednesday evening may create “a sloppy evening commute home,” the NWS warned on Twitter.
“Avoid low-lying areas,” the department tweeted.
Dallas saw heavy rain on Tuesday night, which might result in more water pooling in certain areas in the city.
On Thursday morning’s commute, drivers in DFW should be cautious of water on the roads, Huckaby said.
The rain should taper off a little after sunrise on Thursday and give way to a nice shot of cold air. The coldest morning of the week will be on Friday, but temperatures should be back up to the 50s and 60s on Saturday and Sunday.
