Parts of Loop 12 near Dallas are closed Tuesday morning after a three-vehicle crash that involved a HAZMAT situation sent two people to local hospitals, officials said.

Irving police posted about the crash on social media shortly before 3 a.m. In a 3:20 a.m. update they said cleanup and investigation could take until noon.

Two of the vehicles involved were 18-wheelers, according to KXAS-TV. The southbound lanes of Loop 12 between Shady Grove in Irving and Singleton Boulevard in Dallas are closed while officials investigate the accident.

The trailer of one of the 18-wheelers caught fire, which led to a HAZMAT situation. The cab of the other 18-wheeler fell off the bridge and landed on the ground near the Trinity River. The driver somehow survived the fall, officials told KXAS.

Two people were taken to local hospitals, KXAS reported.
