Crash with overturned 18-wheeler affects traffic on Texas 114, I-635 near DFW Airport
An 18-wheeler crash early Friday morning was affecting traffic near the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, according to Grapevine police.
The police department said first responders were working to clear an accident scene where a tractor-trailer truck overturned on the curve from eastbound Texas 114 to I-635, near the north entrance to DFW Airport, around 4 a.m.
The road was expected to be closed for several hours as crews cleaned up the wreckage.
The semi driver had only minor injuries, police said.
Drivers were advised to plan an alternate route Friday morning and remind loved ones to slow down and use extra caution on wet roads.
MedStar ambulance service reported an increase in crashes after a rainy day on Thursday. More rain is expected this weekend before Christmas.
Between 3 and 9 p.m. Thursday, MedStar crews responded to 25 crashes, with nine of them resulting in a patient being transported to an area hospital.
The day before, without rain, during the same period, the ambulance service responded to eight vehicle accidents, with one of them resulting in a patient transport, a spokesperson said.
