Heading to DFW Airport this weekend? Be prepared for some major highway delays
Motorists driving through Northeast Tarrant County this weekend can expect delays with the planned demolition of the Texas 10 bridge.
From 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday, drivers will have to follow detours where Loop 820 converges with Texas 121 at the Texas 10 bridge.
The demolition will make room for a future bridge and complete the new southbound frontage road intersection on the west side of the bridge, according to the city of Fort Worth website. The construction is part of the I-820 East Loop Project.
Southbound drivers on Texas 121 will be detoured to exit to Texas 10, travel west to Handley-Ederville Road, then south to return to Texas 121, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. Northbound Texas 121 travelers should expect to exit to Handley-Ederville Road, travel south to Trinity Boulevard, then east to return to Loop 820 northbound.
Those traveling northbound on Loop 820 should expect to exit to Texas 10, cross Texas 10, and return to Loop 820 northbound. Southbound Loop 820 traffic will be detoured to exit to Texas 10, travel west to Handley-Ederville Road, then south to Trinity Boulevard and east back to Loop 820.
The road closures and detours coincide with one of the main routes to and from DFW Airport.
