‘Fixer Upper’ couple add magazine to growing empire

Chip and Joanna Gaines keep expanding their Waco empire.

The Waco couple, stars of the HGTV show “Fixer Upper,” will launch their own lifestyle magazine in October. In a partnership with Meredith Corp., the $7.99 yet-to-be named magazine will start with 400,000 copies at newsstands nationwide. It can also be bought online and at their Magnolia Market.

“The magazine will help inspire readers to create their best homes, families, and lives, while making every moment count,” Joanna Gaines said in a press release. “It will encourage readers to make the most of what they have and discover the inherent beauty all around them.”

The quarterly magazine will focus on entertaining, holidays and seasonal celebrations, gardening and outdoor living, family, food and healthy lifestyle. It will include a “Reflections from Jo” essay section and close with comments from Chip Gaines. Other features include a section for the latest happenings at Magnolia Market and a photo essay on “what inspires her now.”

“The magazine will focus on content with heart,” Chip Gaines said in a press release. “We will encourage readers to always be learning, to dive in and try something new. To be kind to others, as well as yourself.”

The owners of Magnolia Homes and Baylor alum married in 2003. On top of raising four kids and starring in a TV show, the couple’s empire includes a real estate company, construction company, design firm, residential subdivision and Magnolia Market. The couple also took home remodeling beyond just the Waco area. If you’ve made the trip to Magnolia Market, share your tips with us here.

Also in October, the husband-and-wife duo share their life stories in The Magnolia Story. The book tackles everything from their first renovation together to their lives today. Joanna Gaines will follow up with her own design book in early 2017.
