‘Fixer Upper’ fans: Share your tips for a Magnolia pilgrimage in Waco
Thanks to HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines, Waco suddenly has become a hot destination, a veritable mecca for fans of their hit home renovation show, Fixer Upper.
Thousands of shiplap devotees are traveling thousands of miles to shop, sleep and now eat in the Magnolia kingdom that rules the once-sleepy Central Texas town. That is, if they can get in the door.
When the Gaines’ Magnolia Market at the Silos opened last fall, lines of eager shoppers snaked around the block. Reservations for their pricey bed-and-breakfast, The Magnolia House, immediately were snatched up through the end of the year. When their Magnolia Bakery opened its doors this summer, it was mobbed with folks hungry for “Silobration” and “Cup O’ Jo” cupcakes.
So, we want to know: What are our readers’ best tips and strategies for making a Fixer Upper pilgrimage to Waco? Do you have advice for the best days and times to go, coolest items to buy and where to grab a beer in the area? Anyone stayed at the B&B — what was the experience like?
