A mother coming home from work found her 2-year-old child severely injured by her boyfriend, U.S. Marshals in Texas said.
Marcos Amaya Maldonado, 25, was taking care of the toddler at his girlfriend’s Del Valle home when he injured the child on Feb. 7, U.S. Marshals said in a Feb. 12 news release.
The toddler had bruising on their head, face, neck and genitals, according to an arrest warrant obtained by KXAN. The child was taken to the hospital to get treatment for the injuries, officials said.
Now, Maldonado was taken into custody after the Austin Police Department Child Abuse Unit investigated and issued a warrant on Feb. 9, according to U.S. Marshals.
The man is held in Travis County Jail, according to the news release.
Del Valle is about a 10-mile drive southeast from downtown Austin.
