These North Texas suburbs are among the safest in the U.S., based on FBI crime data
Texas suburbs make a few appearances in MoneyGeek’s new 2025 study examining the safest cities in America.
Ramapo Town, N.Y. came in first, but the study found that Frisco is the second-safest city in the country. Plano is No. 18 and McKinney is No. 22.
McKinney and Frisco were also ranked No. 15 and No. 16, respectively, in a 2024 GOBankingRates study listing the 25 safest and most affordable U.S. cities.
The MoneyGeek study’s methodology was based on standardized FBI crime data (nothing older than 2023), specifically on violent and property crimes. They took crime data and calculated each city’s cost of crime in order to determine the rankings. The study as a whole includes 292 cities with populations greater than 100,000 across the U.S.
“The direct economic costs of crime to individuals and society include victim medical and mental health care needs, damage to and loss of property and police and corrections costs,” according to the study, “Aside from the imminent danger of crime, people living in higher crime areas see depressed home values and pay higher prices for crucial needs, including home insurance, renters insurance and auto insurance.”
MoneyGeek created two lists: the 15 safest cities in America and the 15 safest large cities in America. Here are which Texas cities made the lists.
