Shelter pup ‘bounced back’ after bad injuries with a zest for life. He needs a home
Despite dealing with horrific injuries and a hard life, one dog in Texas is proving just how much he deserves a second chance at happiness.
Pepe, a chihuahua with a zest for life, is waiting patiently for a new home and family after he was brought into the Humane Society of Southeast Texas in Beaumont with some pretty intense injuries, the shelter says.
“Pepe is a sweet 8-year-old survivor who’s been through a lot, but you’d never know it from his happy-go-lucky attitude!” the shelter said in a Oct. 22 Facebook post.
“Pepe came to us from another Humane Society location with a broken jaw and fractured pelvis, but he’s bounced back remarkably. He now has a plate in his jaw and is scheduled for a follow-up appointment at Spurlock Vet Clinic in a few weeks.”
The broken bones didn’t hamper Pepe’s playful personality.
“Despite his injuries, Pepe still has high energy and loves playing tug of war and fetch with our clinic staff—though he has to take it easy for now because of his jaw surgery,” the shelter he said. “He does well with cats and would love a home where he can live out his golden years. With other dogs, he might play the ‘grouchy old man’ role at first, but he warms up and has enjoyed playing with the pups in our care.”
