Man follows woman getting out of rideshare, then beats her with club, Texas cops say

A woman was followed to a Texas apartment complex and then severely beaten as she was being dropped off by her rideshare, police told news outlets.

The attack happened at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, on Houston’s northwest side, police told KIAH. Officers arrived to find a woman in critical condition, and she was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators say the woman, who has not been publicly identified, ordered a rideshare that night but was followed by a black sedan, KHOU reported.

When she arrived at her destination, a man exited the sedan with a club or bat and beat her with it, then got back into the sedan and drove away, police told the outlet.

According to KTRK, police believe the woman was actually attacked by multiple men.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video and speaking with witnesses, the station reported, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Houston Police Department or Crimestoppers.
